Rachel Rutstein is a law clerk at Cohen Stine Kapoor LLP awaiting admission in New York and New Jersey and upon passing the bar Ms. Rutstein will be an associate at the firm. Ms. Rutstein has worked with Cohen Stine Kapoor LLP in various capacities since graduating from Barnard College and all during law school. As such she has gained experience in a range of matters, including divorce, custody, and support. She showed herself to be a natural, scholarly, and passionate soon-to-be lawyer who was able to provide terrific back-up to the lawyers in the firm as well as compassionate, empathetic, and positive contributions to the care of the clients of the firm.

Ms. Rutstein received her J.D. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where she was awarded the Dean’s Merit Scholarship. During her time in law school, she completed several advanced courses related to family law and alternative dispute resolution, was a member of the Cardozo Family Law Society, and served as Vice President of the Cardozo Trusts and Estates Law Society.

Ms. Rutstein graduated with honors from Barnard College of Columbia University with a B.A. in Art History. She was awarded the Barnard College Alpha Zeta Club Graduate Scholarship, a fellowship given by faculty to graduates who show the greatest promise of future distinction. Ms. Rutstein is an active member of the Alumnae Association of Barnard College, as a Barnard Alumnae Admissions Representative and a mentor to current pre-law students.

Ms. Rutstein was nominated by former United States Congressman Ted Deutch and was nationally recognized for her exceptional work with children and families when she received the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute’s “Angels in Adoption” Leadership Award in 2017.

Ms. Rutstein is a member of the New York City Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, and the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York.
