Ankit Kapoor is a founding partner of Cohen Stine Kapoor LLP. A former NYPD Police Officer, Mr. Kapoor brings a unique, disciplined perspective to his legal practice grounded in real-world experience, sharp instincts, and unwavering resolve.

Mr. Kapoor serves as lead trial counsel in some of the most complex custody disputes and high-net-worth financial matters in the New York metropolitan area. He is a powerful courtroom advocate and a trusted strategist, known for his sharp litigation instincts, methodical preparation and ability to navigate emotionally charged cases with clarity and confidence.

Mr. Kapoor represents a wide range of sophisticated clients, including celebrities, prominent business executives, physicians, attorneys, bankers, hedge fund managers, and entertainment professionals. His discretion, attention to detail, and no-nonsense advocacy make him a go-to attorney for high-profile and high-conflict cases — both in and out of the public eye. His past representations include Tom Brady, among others.

Mr. Kapoor alsleads a growing fertility law practice, advising individuals and families in matters involving surrogacy, embryo preservation, egg and sperm (gamete) donation, and other assisted reproductive technologies. He is a trusted legal resource for clients navigating the legal and ethical complexities of modern family building.

He currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section of the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA), where he Co-Chairs the Legislation Committee. He was appointed to the NYSBA Task Force on Racial Injustice and Police Reform, and is a recipient of the Young Lawyers’ Section Trial Academy Scholarship. Mr. Kapoor is also active in the New York County Lawyers Association (Matrimonial Law Committee), the New York City Bar Association, the South Asian Bar Association of New York, and the Asian American Bar Association of New York.

Mr. Kapoor earned his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School while serving as a police officer with the NYPD, completing his legal education through its evening division. He externed with the Kings County District Attorney’s Office Trial Division and was a summer associate at Herrick Feinstein LLP and was an Assistant Corporation Counsel in the NYC Law Department’s Torts Division. He holds a B.A. in Political Science and Government from Hofstra University and is fluent in Hindi and Punjabi. He is admitted to practice in New York State.
